What size tablecloth fits a 6ft trestle table?

For a table top measuring 183 × 76cm (72 × 30″), compare these three options. Each measurement below is the drop at one side or one end, with the cloth centred on the table.

Check your table height: on a 75cm-high table, the 210 × 320cm cloth finishes approximately 8cm above the floor at the sides and 6.5cm at the ends. These figures refer to the straight edges; the corners can fall lower.

For a long drop: compare the side and end drops with your table height. A drop greater than the table height leaves excess fabric at floor level. Corners can fall lower than the straight edges.

Drops are calculated from the centimetre measurements shown. Inch drops are approximate, rounded to the nearest half inch. Standard table height is approximately 75cm (29.5″); measure yours before choosing a near-floor finish.

Calculate the size for your table

For the same drop on each side and end, add your chosen drop twice to both the table width and the table length. Keep all measurements in the same unit.

Example: a 6ft trestle table with a 50cm drop

For a table top measuring 183cm long × 76cm wide:

Cloth width: 76 + 50 + 50 = 176cm
Cloth length: 183 + 50 + 50 = 283cm

Your calculated cloth size is 176 × 283cm. Standard sizes may give a slightly different drop: the 178 × 274cm option gives approximately 51cm at each side and 45.5cm at each end.

What size tablecloth do I need for a 6ft trestle table?

For a 183 × 76cm table top, choose 132 × 229cm for a shorter drop, 178 × 274cm for a fuller drop, or 210 × 320cm for a near-floor finish. Check the side and end measurements in the 6ft trestle guide before choosing.

Will a 132 × 178cm (52 × 70″) cloth fit a 6ft table?

No. A 6ft table is approximately 183cm long, so a 178cm-long cloth is too short to cover the full table top. For a shorter drop on a 183 × 76cm table, the 132 × 229cm cloth gives approximately 28cm at each side and 23cm at each end.

Will the 210 × 320cm cloth reach the floor on a 6ft trestle table?

On a 183 × 76cm table top, it gives approximately 67cm at each side and 68.5cm at each end. If the table is 75cm high, the straight edges finish approximately 6.5–8cm above the floor. The corners can fall lower, so check your table height and the finish you want.

How many people can sit at a 6ft rectangular table?

A 6ft rectangular table typically seats around 6–8 guests. Chair width, table-leg positions and place settings affect capacity. Choose your cloth using the table top measurements.

What size tablecloth do I need for an 8-seater table?

Measure the table top first, because tables with the same seating capacity can have different dimensions. For example, a 183 × 91cm table can use a 178 × 274cm cloth for a fuller drop, while a 244 × 76cm table can use a 178 × 366cm cloth. Check both drops in the chart.

How much drop should a rectangular tablecloth have?

A drop of around 20–30cm (8–12″) gives a practical shorter finish. A longer drop creates a fuller appearance. For a near-floor finish, compare both drops with your table height and allow for the corners falling lower.

How do I measure my table if its size is not shown?
